You have to simply cut the rubber perpendicular and then pull the length out of the mouse and you are left with a mouse wheel without rubber, but still very easy to use. the rubber on the mouse wheel starts to make it hard to turn the wheel or starts to come off the wheel if I remember correctly, like the glue was giving up.
